Along with the usual narrative descriptions of caves that grace most publications of this nature, the author adds much of interest to the serious researcher. There is a summary of the geology, a chapter detailing the importance of Bartow County caves to the science of paleontology, an overview of Native Americans in northwest Georgia, and a section describing historical uses of caves in the study area. Pulling all of this together took the author from crawlway to cemetery, and from climb-down to courthouse. Indeed, if there is a more comprehensively researched county-specific cave survey book out there I am not aware of it."
