Skye Island Retreat Center Located in the mountains of Northeast Alabama are 46 acres of woodland on the brow of Lookout Mountain with spectacular views, soaring hawks, abundant plant and animal life and the loving supportive healing energy of the land and sky. This modern facility features a large living room, a spacious fully equipped kitchen, both with wrap around windows that reveal a breathtaking view of the valley 1200 feet below. The main house and cabin include some semi-private accommodations as well as bunk/dorm space. (Can house 18 – 20 guests) A hot tub for six with a cliff view on the wrap around deck is one of many amenities that are offered at Skye Island. We have recently renovated the activity room and offer it for sleeping space if someone wants to bring their own air bed, cots or sleeping bags and linens. It is air cooled by the mountain air with fans, and lots of windows. A large space with concrete floor, and has a bath with shower. Bring drums, rattles or musical instruments to enjoy the fire pit. And all are invited to walk the labyrinth completed in 2007. We want to extend to you a most warm welcome to our Skye Island home. We will do all we can to make your stay with us comfortable, playful and relaxing and conducive to the renewing of your spirit in the love. Breakfast is optional and will be a co-operative adventure. Hot cereals, eggs, toast, bagels, fresh fruit along with milk, juice and coffee will be available in each of the three kitchens for your own fixing. Coffee, tea and some snacks will be available during the day. The facility is smoke free and pet free for your comfort. Bedrooms are retreat oriented with multiple beds in each room. Check with Glenda for particulars on room assignments. Accommodations in the near vicinity are limited. There is a Bed and Breakfast within 10 minutes driving time which we can recommend if you do not choose to stay at the retreat. The closest motel is in Fort Payne, Alabama, or Summerville, Ga and will be at least 30 minutes drive time from the resort. There are no restaurants in the area open for lunch, so please plan to eat at the resort or bring a bag lunch. Bring drums, rattles, bowls, flutes......we will play on Saturday night. And hiking shoes if you want to explore the woods.
